ACU MIST is a powerful topical antimicrobial solution, that helps balance bacteria and oils, while restoring hydration levels in inflamed acneic skins.

With supply shortages due to the COVID-19 crisis, castor oil availability became scarce. This turned into a perfect opportunity for a slight upgrade and adjustment to the ACU MIST formula.

What’s been removed

Ricinus Communis Seed Oil (castor oil)

What’s been added

Cocos Nucifera Oil (coconut oil)
Coconut oil is rich in saturated fatty acidslauric and capric acids, as well as antioxidant vitamin E. All are extremely beneficial to address and resolve acne conditions. Laurie and capric acid are very antimicrobial and effective against C. Acnes, gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, as well as candida albicans. Coconut oil is emollient and the fatty acids replenish and soften dry skin, increase moisture and reduce TEWL. DMK uses fractionated coconut oil, which makes ACU MIST easier to disperse, and gives the formula an even, light–weight coverage and spreadability, improving the overall feel on the skin. ACU MIST with fractionated coconut oil will not clog pores.

What’s been added

  • Macrocystis Pyrifera Extract (kelp) – Kelp is a brown seaweed that is rich source of minerals, vitamins and essential amino acids. It also contains fatty acids and iodine, which is an essential nutrient utilized by every cell in the body. Kelps trace minerals are in bioavailable forms the body can readily absorb and use, but this fermented extract also increases the absorption and activity potential. Kelp inhibits glycation and MMPs to strengthen the dermis and protect collagen.
This seaweed reduces wrinkles and increases skin firmness and suppleness by stimulating hyaluronic acid (HA) synthesis, and has also been shown to restore volume by stimulating lipogenesis and adipocyte concentrations. Increased HA and the polysaccharide aspects of seaweedboost the skins hydration levels and water holding capacity.
  • Algae Extract- Emollient brown algae polysaccharide that increases water retention and creates a light film on the skin- preventing TEWL. This is a fermented extract, which increases the bioavailability and concentration of brown algaes antioxidants, minerals and amino acid content.
  • Saccharomyces Ferment – Saccharomycytes yeast is used in the fermentation process of key ingredients. Fermentation increases absorption, bioavailability and bioactivity potential.
  • Centalla Asiatica Leaf Extract (Gotu Kola) – Centella Asiatica contains several bioactive compounds. It promotes fibroblast proliferation and collagen types l and lll synthesis, modulates inflammation and counteracts glycation. Gotu kola contains amino acids and the triterpene, madecassoside, which is an antioxidant and wound healing. This herbal extract improves texture, suppleness, reduces wrinkles, and increases the glycoprotein, fibronectin in the extracellular matrix.
  • Decarboxy Carnosine HCI/Carnosine – Antioxidant and wound healing dipeptide (of amino acids beta-alanine and histidine) that reduces oxidative stress and inhibits lipid peroxidation. Helps restore and strengthen the skin by stimulating collagen production and organizing collagen fibers – reorienting them in the dermis. It interferes and blocks the cohesion of glucose to collagen, preventing glycosylation. Carnosine increases firmness, reduces wrinkles and the effects of photo ageing. There are also studies promoting its photo protective benefits. Although naturally found in the body, Carnosine does not penetrate easily, so these ingredients utilize a liposomal encapsulation for enhanced delivery and penetration.
  • Silybum Marianum Fruit Extract (Milk Thistle) – Silymarin is the main bioactive substance found in milk thistle. It’s a polyphenol that supports and boosts the body’s antioxidant system and free radical scavenging ability. Milk thistle also inhibits lipid peroxidation especially the damage to skin lipids from UVA exposure.

Why was Aminodine reformulated?

Aminodine has undergone a complete transformation for 2020. The namesake and main active ingredient in the former formula was aminoguanidine. Unfortunately, some countries did not allow the use of aminoguandine in cosmetic formulations, so several DMK distributors and clinics have not been able to prescribe this dynamic and very useful tool in revising glycosylation.

Originally, there wasn’t an acceptable substitute that could be used to replace aminoguanidine, but as the awareness, understanding and incidence of glycation has increased, research and many new exciting botanicals have emerged. These new ingredients helped to not only address existing glycation, but also work to prevent the cascade of damage, as well.

Product information

Aminodine Rehydrating Spray targets excess glucose molecules that result in glycosylation; preventing them from attaching and binding to structural dermal fibers. With consistent use, this solution works to prevent, but also reverses existing damage of glycosylation, increased oxidative stress, and AGEs. It also has ingredients that boost collagen, strengthen and reorient the dermal fibers and increase matrix components- rebuilding the foundation of the skin. It reduces wrinkles, refines the texture and tone of the epidermis, to create a lifted, fuller and more youthful appearance. While glycosylation shows up in the skin, it is also happening internally with other body tissues, so diet and lifestyle both play a role in resolving this condition and are keys to ensuring and maintaining results.

Prescribe Aminodine spray up to twice daily as long as the condition persists, or incorporate Aminodine into client’s regimen to prevents glycation, for clients that may be predisposed due to compromised health or lifestyle. Use the spray on its own, as well as in conjunction with DMK oils and nourishing creams. Saturate the area and press into the skin when applying. In addition to the face, neck and décolleté, spray may be used on the backs of hands, neck, or anywhere else with advanced photo damage and where signs of aging are present. Aminodine was originally created and remains the perfect pairing to use in combination with Nite Firming Antioxidant Moisture Cream, as part of an evening DMK Home Prescriptive regimen.

Ingredients

Aqua, Hamamelis Virginiana Leaf Extract, Glycerin, Alcohol Denat, Algae Extract, Saccharomyces Ferment, Macrocystis Pyrifera Extract, Sodium Polyacrylate Starch, 1,2-Hexanediol, Centella Asiatica Leaf Extract, Decarboxy Carnosine HCI, Silybum Marianum Fruit Extract, Tocopherol, Carnosine, Lecithin, 1 , 2-Butanediol, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Undecylenoyl Glycine, Cucumis Sativus Fruit Extract, Chloroxylenol.

1,2-Butanediol – Penetration enhancer and humectant.

Herb And Mineral Mist
Herb and mineral mist contains over 98% cold water soaked herbs that can act systemically as well as have a direct effect on the skin.

By having such a high content of minerals and herbs the solution becomes polarized (thus breaking surface tension immediately). It acts as a carrier vehicle for the oils and crème into the skin. The mist is an essential part of the Home Prescriptive regime.

Herb and Mineral Mist is a polarized spray which aids in transepidermal delivery, infusing a multitude of vitamins, minerals, trace elements and water. This could be thought of as the ‘vehicle’ that carries the nutrients.

Key Ingredients

  1. Kelp (macrocystis pyrifera) – One of the highest sources of minerals and vitamins and essential amino acids. The primary known constituents of kelp include:
  2. Algin – Capable of absorbing 200 – 300 times its own weight in water it is often used in burn dressings. Also absorbs toxins.
  3. Iodine – Every cell in your body needs iodine.
